Pronouns: They/He
I'm a queer nonbinary artist who enjoys drawing digital portraits and making music as a hobby! (I want to eventually create an OST for something, but so far I just make stuff for fun.) Pillowfort is the only social media I post on and try to talk to other people with. I have a Tumblr and Bluesky too, but I use them purely for viewing and reblogging art. I just don't have the energy or real desire to be more active on those.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My gateway into coding was experimenting with Bootstrap 4 when I got a ToyHouse account! After messing around with trying to format everything the way I wanted to, I kept running into roadblocks because Bootstrap is not a good way to learn how to code with no experience. Then I heard about Neocities through Coyote, who has been very helpful and kind in guiding me through my beginnings in Pillowfort. After taking a look around Neocities I really enjoyed seeing what people made and got jealous because I wanted to make a cool page too! That's when I figured out that regular HTML and CSS is far easier to pick up, especially with all the resources out there which you can view on my credits page.
My Music Journey
I started making music for the first time in 8th grade when I dropped Spanish and replaced it with the general music class, which had a small unit focused on music composition. I had never composed a song before but I found out I really liked it! The school used Sibelius, but I downloaded Musescore (a free program) to use at home so I could make music whenever I wanted to. I made a lot of really short songs, nothing longer than like 10 seconds haha. During high school my school started loaning out Chromebooks to all the students to both cut down on textbooks, and guarentee every student had access to a computer for school projects, which ended up being my first laptop. Shortly afterwards I found out about Flat which was an in-browser music program.
As you can imagine I started going crazy and making music all the time everywhere! I would spend almost all of my homeroom time making new things and asking some of my teachers what they thought of it so I could get better. It helped me improve a lot. The downside of Flat was it had limited storage before you had to pay, and I didn't have a job or money in high school. The temporary solution? Create a billion extra accounts and share all of the songs I'd make on those to my main account to access all of them.
Then things changed when I found my next new free program, LMMS, which had one key difference. This wasn't for composing sheet music with instruments like pianos and string instruments. This one had synths. I sucked at first LMAO but I got better overtime! I would occasionally revisit some of the previous programs when I wanted more classical instruments, but the part I liked the best about LMMS was that I didn't have to worry about how complicated the song was. The unfortunate consequence of writing music without instrument knowledge is that if you don't play any instruments, you don't know what it'd be like to play your music with said instrument. I was told that a lot of the music I wrote would be really hard for someone to play HAHA. With LMMS I didn't have to worry because it's all synth instruments and no one's expected to be able to play them! >:)
Art Tools
For most of my art I use a Wacom Intuos tablet (non-touchscreen) with Krita.
For making pixel art I use Aseprite and my mouse.
For making music I use LMMS, Musescore, and Flat.
(In order of used most often, to least used)
I do not use a piano keyboard or anything like that. Just my heart :')
