Rune is a character I've had a general concept in the back burner for about 4 years 🤔 She only more recently got a name and I used to just refer to her as "Bow Lady" because her original concept was centered around a cursed bow that had shot her, but later the idea was scrapped for a cursed sword that had stabbed her, and she was temporarily redubbed "Sword Lady" until I thought of something name-like to call her.
Rune isn't meant to be her "real" name, rather just a placeholder she uses for people to refer to her. Being a reborn, she does not remember her past nor her name. I was originally going to have her call herself something like "Ghost" or "Shade" to kind of reference how she's a sort of ghost of her former self due to memory-loss, but it ended up being a bit too similar to another DND player's character so I went with a different one. Rune is meant to reference the many runes on the cursed sword. It's not a perfect placeholder name, it's likely that I will change this in the future.
Biography
Early Years
Rune was originally drafted into the military at a young age (Possibly 19). During a skirmish, she was separated and engaged in one-on-one combat. The fight was eventually brought into an evacuated civillian's house, in which she was killed. After an unknown period of time, she woke up to realize she was buried alive in someone's basement. Digging herself out, she was curiously still impaled on the same sword that had killed her.
Upon leaving the basement she was trapped in, she found the house was no longer abandoned, and was now occupied by a married duergar couple (underdark dwarves). They both took her in, in an adoptive parental relationship. She eventually came to realize that enough time had passed that her current knowledge of how the world works and its terrain has now been outdated and is no longer relevant.
Personality
She is very quiet and doesn't talk much. Rune is also not very expressive, in both body language and facial expressions. This isn't to say she's cold, but she's simply not very socially experienced due to spending her early years in the military and not getting to relax and have fun.
Campaign Stuff
For the context of the campaign, the duergar couple helped update her knowledge of the world before she left (as of right now I'm not sure the reason) and met the rest of the campaign's party members. (I had joined the campaign using Rune after the campaign had already started.)

Notes
- *At the time of her death she was around 19, so mentally she is still the same, but her true age is unknown at this point. It is assumed to be at least 100, if not more.
- She has a strong build from the military, with many scars acquired over time. A bit of a brick shithouse, but not overly bulky.
- Post-death, she acquired a bit of whiteness to her hair.
- At times she has an unnatural purplish tint to her pupils due to the cursed sword.
